With the upgrade to WordPress 4.4, it’s time to phase out some older themes and introduce a few new ones.

The current best practice is for themes to be “responsive.” That means they respond to whatever kind of device you’re using, and they look good everywhere. Themes that show up too small aren’t responsive. Themes that cut off menus or sidebars aren’t responsive. Don’t worry though — if you’re using one of the older themes you can continue to use it, but we’d recommend you consider switching over to something newer. How can you tell? Well, look at your eportfolio on your cell phone. Can you read it? Or do you have to do a pinch-enlarge to make it legible?

That said, here are some of the new ones.

Colorsnap uses large featured images and a clean layout.

Fashionbuzz, Waffle and Matala let you really personalize your site with a big background image.

On the other hand, Libretto, Syntax and Scrawl use beautiful typography and whitespace to focus entirely on your writing.

Or get really creative with Aladdin. And of course, we’ve installed WordPress’s latest, Twenty Sixteen.

Enjoy!
